Seeking a Technical Specialist on the Application and Database services team as a DBA, our client is seeking someone with strong problem solving skills to provide support in a mission critical information systems environment.
This candidate will be reporting directly to the manager and will be responsible for all aspects of maintenance and support of the organizations internal databases.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Installing, maintaining and upgrading database servers
- Implementation of backup and recovery procedures
- Troubleshooting database related errors and interfaces
- Monitor database servers
- Document technical specifications and process procedures
- Supports SQL Server/Sybase Databases (80%/20%) and provide off-hour/on-call database support on a rotational shift
- Undergraduate Degree required in Computer Science, Math, Health Informatics or equivalent work experience
- MCDBA/OCP a definite asset
- Min. 5+ years hands-on experience working with MSSQL/Sybase databases
- 3+ Experience with Windows 2000/2003
- Experience with Unix, Unix shell/perl script an asset
- MS.Net a +
- Hands-on experience implementing of backup and recovery procedures
- Experience implementing, monitoring and troubleshooting server problems
- Experience with MS SQL 2000, T-SQL, SQLmail, DTS, SQL Cluster
- Excellent Customer Relations and Support service skills
- Ability to work well within a team oriented environment
