Our Client a
National Pharmaceutical Company which is Headquartered in
Massachusetts has an immediate need for a Senior Nortel/Cisco Network
Engineer.
On a day to day basis the engineer will do project work, network
maintenance and trouble shooting. This person may working on issues
that will sometimes involve end users. They should have a well rounded
background. Use of Sniffer or OPNET tools would be beneficial. They
also should have good knowledge of Nortel and Cisco routers & switches
equipment, Knowledge of BGP and OSPF routing is required. This is a
senior position requiring a high skill set as well as high level of
team skills.
In addition to the above these are other job functions that will be
preformed
Responsible for
executing network initiatives that improve the level
of service, enhance functionality and increase cost-effectiveness.

Responsible for maintaining the architecture of the Local Area
Network, Wide Area Network, Network Switching, Location Cabling,
Carrier Services, and other ancillary network services. -
Provides routine Network Management Services: configuration
management, system health-checks, network utilization, performance
monitoring, troubleshooting & trouble reporting, Change Order
processing, etc. -
Provide project management, implementation and operations support
for global network infrastructure. -
Responsible for trouble shooting of difficult application related
problems. May need to interface will end users to correct. -
Responsible for responding to Trouble Tickets entered by networked
users -
Responsible for maintaining full documentation on the data network
design, disaster procedures, and trouble reporting/escalation
procedures. -
Responsible for complying with all clients IT procedures
regarding Change Control, Incident Reporting, etc. -
Communicate with other team members to ensure that the global
network architecture conforms to customer standards for design, levels
of service, classes of service, etc.; to ensure that global data
connectivity is effectively routed utilizing the Customer Data Network

need to have worked with the following equipment
Nortel Passport 8600
Cisco Switches and Routers
Unix and Microsoft Server Software
