The original pin was one of Jackie's most prized possessions. It is sometimes referred to as the "Mother's Day Pin." Though he was organizing his new Presidential Administration at the time of his son's birth, JFK found the time to go to New York to have this gift made to order for Jackie. He worked with the chief designer at Tiffany's to come up with a design that represented both of their children. One berry, slightly larger and with slightly larger stones, represented Caroline; the smaller berry stood for the new baby, John Jr. The pin was presented to a pleasantly surprised Jackie on January 10, 1961, ten days before he took office. She was so proud of this pin and its special charm that she wore it on her first trip abroad as First Lady in May 1961 to Canada. Jackie was known to wear the pin with the berries pointing down and sometimes with them pointing up. The original Berry Pin is now kept at the John F. Kennedy Presidential Library in Boston behind bulletproof glass.
For over a ten-year period, Camrose & Kross painstakingly created replicas of many of Former First Lady Jacqueline Kennedy’s personal pieces of jewelry. However, these pieces are no longer manufactured and the molds have been destroyed. Pieces from The Jacqueline Kennedy Collection are becoming more and more scarce and, therefore, HIGHLY COLLECTIBLE. The replicas are all identified by a "JBK" signature stamp. (JBK stands for Jacqueline Bouvier Kennedy.)
