The MPD16 comes with a MIDI out and can be used with any sampler or sound module. Each pad can be set to output MIDI notes with a variable velocity range and these can all be set, and saved, in a Mac or PC(the unit is also equipped with a USB port). The MPD16 also inherits some of the MPC series' features such as the Full Level and 16 Levels sensitivity functions, available on dedicated switches.
