Introduced in 1988. Originally designed for the Canon EOS 850/750, this ultra-compact flash provides TTL program flash, firing automatically in low light conditions or whenever the need for fill-in flash is detected. The Speedlite 160E has a Guide Number of 52 (ISO 100, feet).
The 160E features lithium battery power, for recycling time that's almost instantaneous and its built-in AF auxiliary light provides autofocus operation in complete darkness up to a distance of 16.4 feet. Its slim and compact size make it a great companion for travel even with the older models like Canon EOS 620, 630 and 650. The portability and compactness makes it a perfect companion flash for traveling - so, even if you are using a EOS-1N, why not ?? As this flash is the most compact unit that offer most basic TTL features with your EOS models. In 1990, Canon replaced the 160E with an upgrade called Speedlite 200E.
