About Locke & Co: Locke & Co. was founded in 1896 by Edward Locke, who established a factory at the Shrub Hill, in Worcester. Prior to that Edward Locke worked as a designer at the Royal Worcester pottery. The pottery produced porcelain wares similar to some of those made by Royal Worcester at the time and quite probably Locke & Co benefited from the high profile and reputation of Royal Worcester. In 1902, Royal Worcester gained a high court injunction preventing Locke & Co. from using the title 'Worcester' on its wares without making it clear that the wares were not produced by the main Worcester factory. This almost certainly contributed to the Locke's decline and the company eventually closed in 1914.
