This work of art is by talented Canadian artist: Tom Goldsmith (b.1963). The scene depicts the top of pine trees against a moonlit sky. Night time landscapes are not very common and not easy to paint. The moon hides behind the tree canopy, and its shine brings out the deep hue of green of the pine trees against a well lit nightly sky.
The painting must be seen to be appreciated.

About the Artist: Tom Goldsmith was born in Toronto in 1963. His early interest in art was encouraged by his uncle Sidney Charles Joseph Goldsmith (1922-2005) RCA a fine Canadian artist. Tom’s schooling had heavy emphasis on art. American painters C.H.Hassam (1859-1935), F.W. Benson, and N.C.Wyeth (1882-1945) heavily influenced him. He is a landscape painter and an illustrator and finds his inspiration in forgotten roads and farmers fields throughout Southern Ontario. He lives in Coldwater Ontario where the valleys and pastureland of Southern Georgian Bay provide a source of inspiration for the artistic styling of this talented painter.
Tom has also a childlike wonder and fascination with animals and nature. The complexity of animals' lives and people's relationship with creatures, both real and imagined, are endless sources of inspiration for him. He is a regular illustrator in Just Labs Magazine, having illustrated the featured children's page, Just For Kids, for the past decade.
