Major General John Hall (April 10, 1769 – July 26, 1823) was born in Mansfield Woodhouse, Nottinghamshire, England to Urban Hall (1734-1808), & Mary Gould (1746-1787).
He commanded the 23rd Welsh Fusiliers, under Sir Ralph Abercromby, at the landing in Egypt in March 1801 which resulted in the Battle of Alexandria.
He married Letitia Brock (1783-1870) in 1802 in Mansfield, Notttingham, England.
He had three surviving children, Francis Brock Hall (1805-1888), Geoffrey Brock Hall Sr. (1807-1886), & his daughter mentioned in this document, Laetitia Mary Brock Hall (1812-1899, Worksop, Nottinghamshire, England).
Laetitia Hall married Samuel William Need Welfitt (1806-1889) on Sept. 14, 1837 in Worksop, Nottinghamshire, England.
One of the descendants of Mr. Hall was his grandson William Welfitt Hall, son of Geoffrey Brock Hall, who died on October 14, 1903, while returning from Canada where he had been visiting his mother & brother, who had inherited Park Hall.
Park Hall then passed to William's brother, Francis Hall (Sept. 4, 1856 - March 19, 1928), a retired barrister, who had been born in Canada, along with his wife, Flora Caroline (nee Hamilton) (Sept. 9, 1865- May 7, 1939). After 1911, he moved back to Canada, & the contents of Park Hall was removed to Canada in about 1915. Park Hall was in ruins in the 1980's, & is no longer in existence.
He died in 1928, aged 70, & is buried in Woodlawn Memorial Park, Guelph, Ontario.
Several documents & papers relating to the Hall Family of Park Hall are lodged with the University of Toronto Library.
Ms. Flora Hall's estate's contents from Rivers Lea, Guelph was sold at auction through, Ward-Price & Co, Toronto, September 23-28, 1946.
Possibly this document came from that sale.
