RARE AFRICAN-CANADIAN ORIGINAL ADVERTISING, TORONTO, c1908-12 - $150 (Jarvis Street & Front Street E., Tor)

VERY RARE ORIGINAL Embossed Coloured Advertising on paper depicting a Black Boy eating a large Watermelon out of a barrel marked, '1 Barrel, Best Printers Black, Ly on & Ja mes Limited, 168-174 West King St., Toronto, Canada., c1908-1912,' 5.6" x 3.55," in very good condition, with light bottom right corner crease.
This is perhaps the only known example of this company to exist.
This was probably issued to advertise their new larger premises c1908. This, perhaps salesman's sample, was obviously meant to illustrate the range of their services that they advertised, their mastery of embossing, lithography, & printer's ink.
This is a rare Canadian example of the depiction of black / African-Canadians, & its racialized overtones.
It should be noted that the company was only at this address between, c1908-1912.
