ORIGINAL ONTARIO INDIGENOUS / ABORIGINAL HAND PAINTED OAR / PADDLE depicting a BALD EAGLE by Randall 'Randy' James Knott (1955-), on verso it's SIGNED, & DATED, 1992, 18.9" x 3 1/8".
It's beautifully painted in bright colours of sky blue, etc., with raised beaded decoration on the paddle /oar's stem as well as the handle.
Randall 'Randy' James Knott was born on the Mississauga Ojibway, Anishinaabe 1st Nation reserve at Curve Lake, north of Peterborough Ontario. He is the brother of artist, Norman Knott. Self taught, he has been “painting symbolic art since 1976”. “He paints the mystical power that he, as a Native sees in the First Nations Peoples. Randy sees the Eagle as the bird of power, & also the messenger who brings messages from and takes our prayers to, the Creator. The book, 'Visions of Our Native American Heritage' (1994) by Jay and Georgette Stock, features Randy and his work, coming from the Mystical Artist.
