Variegated Porcelain Vine, a relative of grapevines likes a sunny or partial sun location. It features dense, lush, beautiful green and white foliage from spring until fall. Porcelain vine grows rapidly to provide quick cover for arbours and trellises and fences.
Also called a porcelain berry vine (Ampelopsis brevipedunculata), this plant produces clusters of interesting berries in late summer and fall. The berries start out white, but gradually darken to shades of pink, lavender, turquoise, blue, and black as they age. Each cluster has berries containing several different colours. Birds are attracted to your yard to eat the berries.,
The vines climb by means of twining tendrils. Plant them near a sturdy supporting structure such as a fence, tree, trellis, or arbour. This vine can grow 10 to 20 feet (3-6 m.) long. It looks great covering a chain link fence or over an arbour. Porcelain vines tolerate hard pruning, and you can cut them nearly to the ground in late winter or early spring.
