I just received this from a fellow and believe this to be the real "history" behind these drums and I quote:
"I custom made this set in 1972--I had a small music store and custom business and made sets for customers--I usually used Camco parts but this customer wanted Rogers lugs and the Slingerland tom holder--I sold the kit for around $500. My store was Dave's Music in Buckhannon, W. Va.--Oh yeah, my initials are DW--I went on to grad school and became a school psychologist and part time rock star--Good luck selling them--I got the shells from the Plektron Co in San Diego--I also sold Zickos drums-This set is not Zickos--Dave W"
There is no labeling on these drums. Make sure you read "the above". This "looks like" Rogers hardware except for the tom mount and bass drum rims. You are basically buying the shells which are in pretty good shape. The tom mount does not work and is crap. The hardware is professionally silver coated except for the top drum rims. (Why, I don't know. ) The bottom rims are triple flange and the top rims are chrome stick savers. The shell color seems to be purple with a little blue. The previous owner (who silver coated it) also put in those blue gaskets for safety on all the hardware. It must have done some good, the only crack I can find is a two inch crack on the floor tom shown in a picture. Thats the only one I can find. The bass drum rims are metal. There are a few screws missing. They are heavy but not insanely so. There are scratches and dings. Take a look at the pictures and email questions. Ask questions as I don't know anything about these.
