Made in 1991 in Korea by Young Chang. Young Chang was created by the same guy who owns World Guitars (manufacturers of PRS SE, Schecter, ESP LTD, and more). View the text in the final photo for a detailed history.
The short of it is that Young Chang made these guitars from quality Fender parts after Fender ended a contract which commissioned YC to build instruments for them. The quality varied, with these earlier models being of higher caliber, causing Fender to order YC to stop due to YC harming their market.
The guitar itself is truly incredible. It's one of the best Telecasters I've ever played. It has a one piece maple neck - carved from a single piece of wood, without separate fingerboard overlay. Chunkier "U" neck profile with nickel silver frets and a desirable satin urethane neck finish for an amazing effortless feel. The body is solid alder with a AAA Birdseye maple top. The original finish was a redburst, but it's been refinished to a stunning aquamarine color; it really complements the birdseye, and you can still see small variances in the colour from the previous redburst -- not to mention the double bound cream accompaniment. It's real nice!
The electronics have been overhauled with an absolutely killer pair of USA made Harmonic Design pickups -- a Super 90™ in the bridge and a Vintage Plus™ in the neck. You'll be blown away. More details can be seen in the second last photo.
Comes included with a mint hardshell case, guitar pics, strings, and tuner. Lowballs ignored, no rush to part with as I have a more sentimental attachment to this Tele.
