I run a few adult jazz ensemble classes, and we are looking for musicians for the upcoming season. We are weekly groups which meet on different weeknights and weekends and work on learning jazz repertoire, some theory making arrangements of songs and improv. The focus of the group is to assemble a set's worth of music each semester to perform as well as learning the intricicies of learning/performing in the jazz tradition. The performance(s) take place at a student recital and/or a Toronto Jazz Club.
I've been running these for 8 years now, and the students always have a great time and improv rapidly. Having an outlet for the work they do privately has helped them focus and made music more fun in general.

We are open to all instruments and the groups always have a combination of some of: Saxophone, Trumpet, Voice, Trombone, Guitar, Piano, Bass and Drums. Minimum 3 people, maximum 6.
This semester there will be 6 groups based on level. In terms of level, we're looking for musicians who can play their instrument, know some major and minor scales, some chords, hopefully the concept of 2-5-1, and an interest in jazz. The last part is the most important. You will improve fast in this group! People will be grouped according to level from beginners to advanced.
The course fee starts at $30/week and is run "semester" or "university" style.
