Staff positions at eco hostel in southern Indiana (West Baden Springs, IN, USA)

compensation: All housing and meals provided
employment type: full-time
non-profit organization

Our mission: "We hope that all who stay or live at Lost River Hostel will be inspired to improve themselves and improve the world around them." This eco hostel is intended to provide a space for guests to come through for a night or two to relax, rejuvenate, and return to a state of bliss and inspiration. The resident staff will be asked to help upkeep the garden, marking and maintaining trails around the property, caring for our chickens, construction of new structures, composting, preparation of meals for the staff and guests, all around creating a loving and beautiful environment for all who stay. Right now we are looking for people with different skills and backgrounds. While your skill set is important, kindness and a collaborative spirit are valued above all.

All positions will involve a private room in our staff house and all meals provided. Regular staff is a term of 1-3 months and volunteer based. A management term is 3-6 months and is a paid position. We find this is an excellent space for people to take a pause and figure out where they are headed next in life. We often help each other collaborating and brainstorming on the next step in our life's journey. It's nearly guaranteed that when you leave a term at Lost River, you'll know more about yourself and what you want to do with your life.

Our quaint farmhouse on the hill sits on 16 acres of wooded wonderland only minutes away from the Hoosier National Forest. During the summer we tend to spend the beginning of our days working on our larger projects, swimming, and grounds maintenance. In the winter we spend more time around the fire, working on art, and cleaning. In our leisure time (depending on our staff), we enjoy taking hikes, kayaking down the river, painting, yoga, reading, playing music in our living room that is stocked with instruments of all different kinds, sharing stories, sitting by the fire, taking a dip in our pond, and meditating underneath the forest's canopy.

You can see much more info on the staff page of our website if you like ( and find our application. Chosen candidates will be contacted to arrange a video chat interview. Don't hesitate to reach out with any questions, and we look forward to sharing our beautiful space with you!
