Was given a Honda horizontal shaft G200 L head engine by a guy who owed me a 5 hp Briggs & Stratton horiz shaft flathead. Looking to swap the Honda for such a Briggs.
The G200 is in need of a piston, rings, & a connecting rod b/c the former was damaged when the latter blew.
There is a bit of very light scoring in the cylinder, so light that compression should still be more than adequate to power a tiller, mini bike, snowblower, etc if valve clearances properly set. Otherwise, block appears fine.
Fuel tank has minimal rust inside and the petcock seems okay, though the underside of the cap, like many of the parts, could use a bit of sanding to remove some surface rust.
Crankshaft could use some sanding where the rod attaches.
The blower housing is weathered, but the rewind works fine.
Carb appears to be complete.
Air cleaner assembly has all its parts save for the filter's foam sleeve and could also use a bit of sanding.
Muffler is missing the heat shield/outer cover, but is otherwise okay.
Since used G200s are few & far between, I think it is fair to ask for a good, dime a dozen 5hp Briggs horizontal shaft engine that is not running or needs a "tune up" for the Honda.
And by "good" I mean that the Briggs should have an undamaged block, good piston & rings & rod, UNFILED valves with good guides, etc. Don't care if paint has come off the block itself, so long as the blower housing looks decent.
Great if the fuel tank isn't badly rusted inside, the carb isn't missing parts, and the air cleaner assembly isn't rusted to heck, but not a deal breaker if that isn't the case. However, the engine must have a good static ignition coil.
Multiple photos of your engine will be required, please. Sorry, not interested in any other type of engine unless it's a 5hp Tecumseh flathead with a 1" DIAMETER horizontal shaft.
