Hi. Enjoyed watching a series called "Great Books" on The Learning Channel (TLC - before it became the insipid reality show network) years ago and managed to record several episodes off air, but have long since lost those VHS tapes.
Would like to buy the "commercial" VHS tapes or even DVD dubs of home/off air dvd recordings others have made. Will pay 10 to 20 bucks for each of the former depending on their condition (& the episode) and 10 bucks for each of the latter (ditto).
* Note: greatly prefer the commercial VHS tapes or dvd dubs of off air recordings of the earlier produced episodes over the commercial DVDs of same as the latter had much of the original material edited out for length (or so I've been told) - on the other hand, the last several episodes that were made (incl P&P and Wuthering Heights), only came out on DVD.
Programs wanted include those covering Wuthering Heights, Pride & Prejudice, Native Son, Walden, Crime & Punishment, The Tales of Edgar Allan Poe, The Republic, etc, etc.
Will pick up in the GTA.
Would also like to acquire other items, including:
special edition classic Doctor Who DVD sets;
Endeavour dvd sets;
MI-5/Spooks dvd sets;
a commercial dvd or vhs copy of the Newberry, SC episode of A&E's City Confidential series or even an "off air" recording of it;
a dvd dub of a CBC doc entitled "The Deal" (based on the book, "The National Deal") which aired during an early 1990s on The National;
a dvd dub of the 40th anniversary of Formula 1 auto racing British program that aired on CBC in the early 1990s; an older model 5(hp)/23(") snowblower and a chain drive 5hp rototiller, both for parts or restoration; a 3 step aluminum stepladder with safety bar/handle; and a basic model "gazelle" type swinging exercise machine.
Btw, thank you to all the thoughtful individuals who have kindly taken the time to inform me that several (many?) of the Great Books episodes have been uploaded to youtube.
Might also note that, yes, I have bought some burned dvds of the eps, but, as with the case of an acquaintance who did so from a different "seller", all of the copies were plagued by poor audio-video sync ("rubber lips").
Thanks for looking
