complete, 1 cylinder outboard motor wanted for project - $40 (Keele St & 401, North York)

Self taught small engine mechanic looking to acquire an inexpensive, single cylinder out board boat motor simply to expand his knowledge and learn how they're constructed & work. May also accept a twin cylinder one if their compression is good and within 5% of the other.

Ancient model okay, so long as it's "conventional" in design and has all its parts. Obviously, one that was manufactured by a big company that is still in operation (Johnson, Evinrude) is preferred.

Also obviously preferred if the engine isn't seized and has spark.

Willing to pay $40 and pick up in or close to the GTA.

No, that isn't a lot of money, but I've seen older, nonworking, smaller outboards selling here for that amount from time to time and new parts for older engines usually have to be ordered from the States, which can be prohibitive.
Understandably, I don't want to end up shelling out a lot more for parts than an old outboard is worth :/

Photos of your engine will be helpful and any "background" info about it will be greatly appreciated (when it last ran, its recommended 2 stroke fuel mixture, when it was last serviced, if you have the owner's or service manual for it, etc).

Please, serious replies only.

Thanks once again to the very kind individuals who have generously offered me donor outboards, but I am only able to pick up more or less within the GTA.
