Double Bedframe in Solid Wood. Functions perfectly. And FREE!
No Mattress, No Box and No Delivery - sorry!
Lots of history in this period Art Deco collector's item. Dating back to 1937. Solid wood construction w/ veener marketry inlay to showcase the chevon patterns and waterfall edges that characterize the elegant furniture of this vintage. Sliding doors move back and forth along a inset rail to allow access to the entire "bar" area which spans the width of the bed.
Some scuffs and chips from regular wear and tear. With a good clean up and once over w/ furniture oil this puppy's gonna shine. No issues whatsoever structurally. Very solid.
Needs a thin boxspring or the balance of plywood to completely cover the base in order to work properly. Supplied is a plywood sheet if a boxspring is being used its required. See dims below.
Because it makes sure the boxspring sits square between the rails.
Transportation: Dimensions and Tips
Headboard:
57 1/2"W x 36"H x 9" deep in places (a bit boxy with a top heavy awkwardness because of the built in storage cubbies - see photo. Definitely a two person load in and out)
Footboard:
56 " W x 20"H x 2 1/2" D (pretty easy to maneouver)
Rails:
2 @ 77 1/2" x 5"
Plywood:
54"W x 24"H x 5/8 thk.
total additional plywood required if no boxspring: two pieces @ 54" wide by 24" or parts there of.
eg. enough 54" wide 3/4 or 5/8 ply to make up a few inches less than the balance of 74 inches
I've moved this myself with helpers many times so here's my two cents:
On your own? Try bringing a friend to help. Its on the third floor of a walk up apartment building and a big reason why its free is because the person getting this has to hassle with moving it down to the ground floor, including finding a person to help them carry it down. While I can help in a pinch, its best to find someone beefier in the muscle department or one of those moving geniuses that have enough mental muscle for the task.
Consider bringing moving gloves. They make the gripping and lifting parts a lot easier.
